Your fundraising will allow Marie Curie Nurses to provide more care to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses.

Marie Curie Nurses care for patients in their own homes, throughout the day or overnight. It costs Marie Curie Cancer Care £20 to provide one hour of nursing care, every £1 you raise makes a big difference.

"Without the Marie Curie Nurses, I could not have complied with my mother's wishes to remain at home. Each and every nurse brought their own brand of care and attention. Each and everyone was a star."

P. Brand

"This service was second to none and was a great help to me and my family during what to us was the worst time possible in our lives. My husband was cared for with great dignity by all nurses during his last few days. Thank you.” N. Oliver

"When our nurse came to stay with my Aunt, I felt blessed that such a lovely lady was there to care for her and the worries and anxieties I had been feeling just left me. I do not think there can be a better service than Marie Curie Nurses.”

"They were wonderful. I cannot thank them enough - they became our friends. They became our "Rock", enabling us to carry on. Thank you. "

About Marie Curie Cancer Care
About Help for Heroes
Help for Heroes was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry in October 2007 out of a desire to help the wounded Servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq. The message of the charity is simple: We are strictly non political and non critical; we simply want to help. We believe that anyone who volunteers to serve in time of war, knowing that they may risk all, is a hero. These are ordinary people doing extraordinary things and some of them are living with the consequences of their service for life. We may not be able to prevent our soldiers from being wounded, but together we can help them get better.

What Help for Heroes Do
Help for Heroes raises money to support members of the Armed Forces who have been wounded in the service of their country. We ask our supporters to “do their bit” to show these extraordinary young men and women that they are cared for by us. Over a million people have responded to date and millions of pounds have been raised to buy much needed services that will aid their recovery, but we need more! So far, we have allocated almost all of the money we have raised in order to fund direct projects and support other service charities. We are passionate about what we are doing and as far as we are concerned the sooner we can see results, the better!

Help for Heroes Projects
We previously announced that our support to the Defence Recovery Capability (DRC) had been raised to £20m but the overall ambition has increased. We now plan to support the MoD with up to £100m. This breaks down as £56m upfront to support the Personnel Recovery Centres (PRCs) at Colchester, Tidworth, Catterick and Plymouth and an additional £36.75m to cover the operating costs of the Tidworth PRC. There is already a PRC up and running in Edinburgh, the Pathfinder Centre, which we provided £750K towards and opened in partnership with the MoD and Erskine in the summer of 2009. Funding for activities required as part of the wounded’s Individual Recovery Plan will be met by a £15m fund as well as our £6m Quick Reaction Fund (QRF) which provides immediate support to the wounded and their families

How money raised for Help for Heroes is spent
Help For Heroes is the charity that does exactly what it says on the tin.
Help for Heroes strives towards 100% effectiveness – so that for every £1 donated, £1 will go directly to helping wounded Servicemen and women. So, we do exactly what we say on the tin – your donations go directly to supporting the wounded boys and girls.

How we do this?
We do of course have running costs but these are kept as low as possible, and the costs we do have? Well those are covered by the sale of our fantastic Help for Heroes merchandise. Every t-shirt, mug, wristband and calendar sold ensures that the money you donate goes to the men and women who need it, not office bills!

In fact, thanks to the range of challenges we hold through the year and our H4H shop, last year we actually made more than we needed to run the charity. So, of course, the rest goes to the wounded.

What do we spend your money on?
We spend every penny possible on making grants that aim to provide practical, direct support for our wounded.
